The Garden Center at Leilani's
Our garden center is where you will find an excellent selection of interesting annuals and perennials - for both sun and shade - that you won't find at the big box stores, as well as herbs and vegetable plants, which are grown right here and are Certified Naturally Grown. That means the we don't use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.
We also bring in shrubs, including natives, houseplants, pottery, tools, soil amendments and fertilizers to give your new plants the best start possible.
Once you have chosen your new plants, we can help you put together the perfect container, tell you how to set up your vegetable garden, explain plant spacing, show you the best way to plant a shrub, and answer just about any plant question you might have. All of us here have extensive knowledge in various areas or horticulture, botany and agriculture, so feel free to ask us your questions! We love sharing what we know.
Our goal is to provide the best plants possible, and to arm our customers with the know-how to be successful gardeners and "plant parents"
Once you've chosen your container and filled it with potting soil, creating a dynamic mixed container is as easy as 1, 2, 3... really!
1. Thriller! This is the plant (you usually only need one) that will be the centerpiece and the dramatic element of your container
2. Filler! Choose something that will fill in the space between the top of the pot and your "thriller". Usually something with a mounding habit works nicely
3. Spiller! Depending on the height of your pot, this can be just as dramatic as your "thriller". Plants that have a trailing habit, like Creeping Jenny, Ivy or Sweet Potato Vine are excellent choices
